One of the best ways for kids to learn about the world is through role play, and as the Heelers show us, there are lots of everyday situations that you can recreate at home. Not only do children get to test out real world scenarios in a safe environment, but each role play situation includes tasks and challenges to keep them occupied.

Are you a patient with a cat in your belly? Better visit the hospital! Whilst role playing doctors, nurses and patients, kiddos can draw their own scans, practice conversations around symptoms and caring for each other, and build empathy skills. Plus, Imagine the relief once that cat is removed!
Feeling hungry? Why not get some sausages cooking on the BBQ, make a call to the Pizza Girls or pick up some takeaway?

In these fun food-based games, kids can create their own foods out of food safe ingredients, drawings or items in nature, as well as burn off some energy doing delivery runs or design their own menu of innovative dishes.

Sometimes you need to get nowhere fast – good thing there are pretend trains, buses, taxis and helicopters for all your home-based commuting adventures! With the simple set up of some chairs, or even just by sitting on the floor, everyone can have a turn taking the wheel and deciding what destination the family visits.
