We’ve all been there – your plans for tiring out busy little bodies at the local playground are scuppered when those grey clouds form overhead. Ah biscuits. Luckily, Bluey’s family have shown us that there’s plenty of ways to keep the family entertained, no matter what the weather is doing!

Got a long hallway or open room and a yoga ball or large ball? You’ve got yourself a game of Raiders! One player can roll the ball across the space while the other players have to jump out of the way. Try and get everyone out to complete the round and then the players can switch roles. Just make sure the space you’re using is safe for running in and free from objects the ball could damage.
Hide and seek is a classic family game that lets you test the limits of your creativity when finding new and innovative ways to hide. Is that a blanket strewn across the floor or the perfect hiding place?
Using a balloon, light-weight ball or even simple household items like cardboard toilet rolls, you can recreate your own game of Keepy Uppy.
Stop your balloon (or other item) from touching the ground by bouncing it into the air to keep the game in play. How long can you and your teammates keep your item afloat?
Rediscovering your books through your own home library is the perfect, cosy activity on a rainy day. With some easy set up (tables and chairs), you can create your own library counter where you can borrow the books in your collection from your newly appointed home librarian. As well as reading the books, bonus activities within this game include drawing your own library card, read-alongs for the whole family and library-themed events such as a show and tell of your child’s favourite book or gallery experience where your child can show their art around the library for family to admire.
What do you get when you bring together blankets, some sturdy furniture and some creative engineering? A cubby! A core memory for many children, building your own cubby or forte allows littlies to practice problem solving, design and get the chance to hang out in their own curated space.
