“How does Santa Get in? There’s no Chimney!?”

If the Heeler family knows one thing, it’s how to give Bluey, Bingo, Muffin and Socks the BEST Christmases! From hanging out at home in Veranda Santa  to visiting extended family by the pool in Christmas Swim , let’s take a look at some of the Australian traditions celebrated each Christmas by the Heelers!

Christmas Lights

When the sun goes down, there’s no more magical way to spend a December evening than looking at the twinkly lights decorating the neighbourhood! Residents go all out sprucing up their house fronts with inflatable snowmen, glowing reindeer, sparkly candy canes, and of course, lights lights lights!

Christmas Cricket (Or Classic Catches!)

Once all the pressies have been opened, the Christmas lunch eaten, and the afternoon naps done and dusted, one of the top traditions that make an Australian Christmas is to have a family game of cricket (or classic catches in the Heeler household)! With everyone getting involved, it’s the outdoor equivalent of family board games at the end of a crazy Christmas Day.

Wackadoo! Don’t forget to keep your eye on the ball!

.

Christmas BBQs

One of the top Aussie traditions at Christmas in none other than a… barbeque! Aprons at the ready, BBQ tongs in hand, the sizzle of something delicious, nom-nom-nom. Staples of an Australian Christmas lunch include prawns… pavlova… and plum pudding. Even Uncle Stripe (The world’s best chef) loves getting in on the Christmas barbeque action!

.

Pressies

Presents, of course! Whether big, small, heavy, light, fragile, rustic, expensive, homemade and handmade with love, Christmas Day in Australia centres around the exchanging of gifts. Something super special from Santa under the tree, or a pressie made at kindy for a grandparent, all tied up with a ribbon and handed over with love, awww!

.

Aaand Of cOURSE, fAMILY!

What’s Christmas anywhere in the world without family, friends or loved ones to share it with! Each year, Aussie families go the distance to see each other and spend the day eating, playing, relaxing and having fun together. And if you’re on your own, then make sure to give yourself an extra special treat!
